I’m currently a lead UX design strategist with CDC’s Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance, and Technology where I sit in the Technology Strategy Office. My top priority is designing and directing a repeatable and inclusive feedback process for CDC’s Public Health Data Strategy with state, territory, local, and tribal health departments as well as public health association partners. Formerly with the U.S. Digital Service, where in 2022 I was the lead UX Researcher on the team that launched the ChildTaxCredit.gov website with the IRS and Dept of Treasury in 12 weeks!
I conducted field research on the IRS project Virtual Vita and for the Return to Repayment – the Dept of Education’s student loan repayment program. I specialize in inclusive UX research and service design including accessibility and 508 standards.
I’m a Principal with over 25 years experience in the software industry and 18 years in the field focusing on HCI. I’ve been lucky enough to work at the top companies in the business including: Intel, Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. That experience has taught me how to work with product and eng teams to ensure we elevate the voice of the customer. I am a research guru and my strengths are with user engagement, storytelling with data, and creating great customer experiences.

Over the last 20 years in software development, my job duties have included:
- Managing interdisciplinary UX teams with a yearly budget, and a half-million dollar usability lab.
- Developing visualizations for big data analysis in HTML, XML, Javascript, R, jQUERY, and JSON.
- Sharing user stories via dashboard in PowerBI, Tableau, LookerStudio, and Quarto.
- Conducting user research using quantitative and qualitative methods including: lab studies, semi-structured interviews, focus groups, surveys, and NLP.
- Creating and maintaining a web-based research dashboard to publish research statistics, results, and plans about research conducted in DLS.
- Developing paper, PowerPoint, and HTML+Javascript+CSS prototypes and wireframes to be used in testing.
- Preparing models (personas, scenarios, task workflows, service blueprints) of interaction to make recommendations for the design and implementation of emerging information technologies.
- Delivering detailed team reports with screenshots, video, and software enhancement recommendations and qualitative and statistical data analysis.
- Producing executive level communications about projects, strategy, and long-term planning.
